Archna came to acupuncture from a western science background where she worked for many years within an NHS hospital environment. Her interest in complementary medicine started when a member of her family was successfully treated for asthmausing acupuncture when all other treatment methods had failed.
She went on to study Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element Theory and graduated from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading. Since then she has undertaken further training in Facial Revitalisation Acupuncture, Paediatric Acupuncture and Chinese ‘Patent’ Herbs.
Archna believes in approaching health from a holistic point of view and her treatments involve focusing on all aspects of the person, physical, mental and emotional. ‘When a patient’s treatment is based on such an integrated approach, it helps to enable them to reach their full potential in life.’
Her holistic approach has had great success in treating a wide variety of complaints, including respiratory disorders, gynaecological problems, digestive disorders, migraines, depression and stress-related conditions.
Archna’s added interests include treating children. ‘There is something deeply satisfying in helping to relieve a child from unnecessary suffering.’ Her younger patients visit her with a variety of childhood complaints and will receive treatment which may not always involve the use needles. Methods such as massage and tui-na can be used very effectively especially during the first treatment.
Archna is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) and also has a seat on its PR and Marketing committee. She has appeared in the national press and magazines and has participated in several television documentaries.
